Still no generator
Well, I’m still wrestling with the generator. I was lazy about pulling it, but it wouldn’t have done me any good, anyways.
I got some test leads, and hooked up the spare generator to the battery. If it’s not completely dead, this should make it spin. It sparked when I hooked the leads up (indicating a complete circuit), but it did not spin.
I also thought that the problem could be that the generator had been depolarized. I repolarized it, but it still isn’t working. My one remaining theory is that the brushes on the generator in the car are toast. Which they appear to be.
Unfortunately, removing the generator is not a small task, which necessitates removing the carburetor (I need to remove it anyways, so I can rebuild it.) Alas, I can’t get at the rear bolt without a set of stubby wrenches, so I’ll need to hit up Harbor Freight again for those.
On a side-note, I was haunted by the ghost of my last car (a 2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder) today. As I walked around back of the car, I saw that some spiders had decided to start a family on the rear decklid, and there were some fifty baby spiders crawling around on it.

better make damn SURE those spiders aren’t ‘brown recluse’ types. they can do an -astounding- amount of -permanent- (yeah, *PERMANENT*) damge to you if you get bitten. say like inside your forearm or wrist. similar to snakebite toxins….don’t ask how I know…you’ll never even feel it.

Oh yeah, I’m well aware of the danger of the brown recluse. My ex-gf nearly lost her arm to one.
