Well, since the residents lost their case, the city is charging them rent retroactively to 2000, when the proceedings started. They are also only paying market rates for the property at 2000 levels, which is significantly less than the property is worth today.

this country’s legal system has become dangerously stupid, and something must be done about it. This is a good first step.
