The Big Move

I’m in my new place, and still unpacking. The move went pretty smoothly, though I was definitely in panic mode for a while there. And it was rough. I do not recommend moving up four flights of stairs in a building with no elevator.

Thursday, I worked from home. After work, I started cleaning out my back rooms - my office, master bedroom, and walk-in closet - since they had far more stuff in them than the rest of the apartment. I spent eleven hours cleaning, and packing a few items up. I was up until 4:30am.

I took Friday off work to pack. I started around 11 am, and continued packing and cleaning the back two rooms, finishing those around 8:00pm. I kept on, and had the bathroom, living room, and kitchen - all the remaining rooms - done around 3am.

Got a few hours of sleep, then woke up at 8. Went to get the truck, and started loading stuff up, with plenty of help. A big thank you to everyone who helped me out. Everything was loaded up around 11, so we took a break for lunch. I bought.

After that, it was up to Seattle, and hours upon hours of sweat and misery.

But it’s done now, and I just have to keep unpacking a room at a time. The bathroom is done, most of the bedroom is set up, and the furniture is all in place in the living room.

The new place is working out great so far - with one exception, that being that it was impossible to get my sofa up the stairs. It went to Goodwill. I was sorry to see it go, but was planning on acquiring less bulky replacements for my living room furniture anyways.

And that’s that. I’m now living in Seattle!
