Adium is releasing betas left and right in preperation for their long-awaited 1.0 release.

Adium is really nice. It’s easily the best IM client on OS X, far better than anything else on the platform. It puts the bundled iChat to shame, and offers features that simply do not exist in any other client. Honestly, I think Apple would be better off dumping iChat and adding their video stuff to Adium.

The most recent stable release of Adium works quite well, except that file transfers crash it consistently, which is highly irritating. Betas 1 and 2 were much worse, prone to random crashing all the time. Beta 3 was much improved and usable day-to-day. Beta 4 seems just as stable, and you can make your chat windows translucent now. Awesome!

This 1.0 release is going to be pretty awesome.
